The awards recognise the Dubai-based carrier’s agility, innovation, strategic growth, product development and investment in people. Recent customer experience enhancements include a dedicated Business Class check-in, a Business Lounge, cabin retrofit and onboard improvements, refreshed Travel Shops in Deira and Sharjah, the evolution of the Economy Class experience and the selection of Starlink as inflight connectivity partner for complimentary high-speed onboard WiFi. flydubai was also recognised for expanding its in-house capabilities through its Ab Initio Pilot Training programme, Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Apprenticeship, leadership development initiatives and the planned Aircraft Maintenance Centre at Dubai South. At the annual awards ceremony, flydubai was named Airline of the Year and also received the Trailblazer Award for Outstanding New Service Launch and the Best Airline Talent Development & Workforce Strategy award. The recognition reflects the airline’s continued focus on agility, innovation, customer experience and long-term operational development.

The awards were accepted on behalf of flydubai by Francois Oberholzer, Chief Financial Officer; Ramesh Anantharaman, Divisional Senior Vice President of Revenue Management and Business Effectiveness; Mohamed Hassan, Senior Vice President of Airport Services and Cargo; and Munawur Alhaj, Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition. The event was attended by stakeholders from across the travel and aviation industries.

The Airline of the Year award recognised flydubai’s strategic growth, expanding network and role in connecting Dubai with underserved markets. Since launching operations in 2009, the carrier has built a network of more than 140 destinations across 58 countries and has opened more than 100 routes that previously had no direct air links to Dubai or were not served by a UAE national carrier from Dubai.

The Trailblazer Award for Outstanding New Service Launch highlighted flydubai’s recent product evolution. The airline has introduced a dedicated Business Class check-in experience, a Business Lounge and a wider programme of cabin retrofits and onboard enhancements across both Business and Economy Class.

flydubai has also announced Starlink as its inflight connectivity partner, with plans to provide complimentary high-speed onboard WiFi across its fleet. The airline has refurbished and launched Travel Shops in Deira and Sharjah as part of broader efforts to improve the customer journey across different touchpoints.

The Best Airline Talent Development & Workforce Strategy award recognised flydubai’s investment in people, training infrastructure and in-house capabilities. The airline has launched an Ab Initio Pilot Training programme, an Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Apprenticeship and leadership development initiatives. It has also announced the groundbreaking of its Aircraft Maintenance Centre at Dubai South.

Francois Oberholzer, Chief Financial Officer at flydubai, said the airline was pleased to be named Airline of the Year and to be recognised for its continued investment in people and product development. He said flydubai enhanced the customer experience across Business and Economy Class in 2025 while making progress in recruitment, training and internal capabilities.

Oberholzer said the airline is well positioned for its next phase of expansion following aircraft orders announced at the Dubai Airshow 2025. He added that the awards reflect the work and dedication of flydubai’s teams and the strength of a business model built on agility and innovation.
