(IN SHORT) Brussels Airlines will launch two new direct scheduled routes from Brussels to Kemi-Tornio Airport and Kittilä Airport in Finnish Lapland during the 2026–2027 winter season, strengthening air links between Central Europe and Northern Finland. The Brussels-Kemi-Tornio route will operate one to two times per week from 25 December 2026 to 10 March 2027, while the Brussels-Kittilä route will operate three times per week from 10 December 2026 to 27 March 2027. Finavia said the new services are positive for tourism in Northern Finland and will also provide passengers departing from Finland with wider European connections through Brussels. The routes are expected to support inbound leisure travel to Lapland, including destinations such as Kemi, Sea Lapland and the wider Lapland region, while also connecting Finnish travellers with Brussels and nearby destinations in Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands.
(PRESS RELEASE) VANTAA, Finland, 2026-Aug-19 — /Travel PR News/ — Brussels Airlines is expanding its winter route network with two new direct scheduled flight connections from Brussels to Finnish Lapland.
The airline will launch new services between Brussels and Kemi-Tornio Airport and between Brussels and Kittilä Airport during the 2026–2027 winter season.
Finavia said the new connections are a positive development for tourism in Northern Finland.
The routes will also provide passengers departing from Finland with wider onward connections to other parts of Europe through Brussels.
At the same time, the services are expected to support travel from Central Europe to Finnish Lapland, which has traditionally attracted strong interest from European tourists.
Petri Vuori, Senior Vice President, Route Development at Finavia, said the new direct scheduled flights from Brussels to Kemi-Tornio and Kittilä airports are good news for tourism in Northern Finland.
He said the Brussels services will open broad European connections for passengers departing from Finland, while also serving Central European visitors travelling to Finnish Lapland.
As a destination, Kemi offers maritime nature, archipelago landscapes, hiking opportunities and family-oriented adventure experiences.
From the Kemi-Tornio area, travellers can easily continue to other destinations in Lapland, Sea Lapland and Sweden.
Brussels also offers strong onward travel opportunities because of its central location in Europe.
The Belgian capital is within short distance of France, Germany and the Netherlands, while also providing access to Belgian destinations such as Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp and the coastal city of Ostend.
Brussels Airlines said the new Brussels-Kemi-Tornio route will operate one to two times per week from 25 December 2026 to 10 March 2027.
The Brussels-Kittilä route will operate three times per week from 10 December 2026 to 27 March 2027.

At Kemi-Tornio Airport, state-purchased traffic is currently in force.
In addition to purchased traffic, individual charter flights are operated to the airport each year.
