Hapag-Lloyd Cruises Brings Luxury, Riviera Ports and Roaring Twenties Style Back to MS EUROPA in 2027

(NEWS) HAMBURG, Germany, 2026-Jun-12 — /Travel PR News/ — Short luxury cruises are increasingly being shaped around atmosphere and themed experiences, rather than destination lists alone. Along the Côte d’Azur, where old-world glamour remains part of the region’s travel identity, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is bringing back one of its more distinctive short-cruise formats for 2027.

Following strong guest response to its 2026 edition, MS EUROPA will once again host “Gatsby Nights at sea” from 27 to 31 May 2027, according to a press release published by Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. The four-day itinerary, titled “Savoir vivre on the Côte d’Azur – with Gatsby Nights at sea,” will combine ports along the French and Italian Riviera with a 1920s-inspired onboard experience.

The route will include Portofino, St. Tropez, Cannes, Nice and Saint-Florent on Corsica, offering guests a compact journey through some of the Mediterranean’s most recognisable coastal destinations. Cannes will include an extended stay until midnight, giving travellers time to explore the Boulevard de la Croisette and the city’s evening atmosphere.

The centrepiece of the cruise will be the return of the Gatsby-themed evening, when Deck 4 of the EUROPA will be transformed into a 1920s-style club setting. The event is designed around music, cuisine, design and period-inspired atmosphere, creating a themed social experience rather than a conventional onboard entertainment programme.

With space for a maximum of 400 guests, EUROPA is positioned around a smaller-scale luxury cruise model focused on service, spaciousness and flexible access to selected coastal ports. The ship offers outside suites, many with verandas, and a near 1:1 guest-to-crew ratio.

The format reflects a wider trend in luxury cruising, where shorter itineraries are being developed as curated lifestyle experiences built around culture, food, music and destination atmosphere. For Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, the return of “Gatsby Nights at sea” suggests that themed short voyages can offer a more distinctive alternative to traditional Mediterranean cruise programming.

Prices for the four-day cruise start from €3,040 per person in the PLATINUM fare.
