WFS Secures Qatar Airways Cargo Handling Contract at Liège Airport Strengthening European Logistics Position

(PRESS RELEASE) ROISSY, France, 2026-Apr-30 — /Travel PR News/ — Worldwide Flight Services, part of SATS, has secured a new contract to provide cargo handling services for Qatar Airways Cargo at Liège Airport. The agreement, which takes effect on 1 May 2026, covers ramp and warehouse operations for the airline’s Boeing 777 freighter flights serving the Belgian hub.

Under the contract, WFS will support cargo operations for flights arriving from Doha as well as other major global freight markets. The partnership further strengthens WFS’s position at Liège Airport, where it already serves multiple international carriers and plays a key role in managing cargo and e-commerce traffic.

With this addition, WFS now handles cargo operations for 11 airlines operating at Liège, reinforcing its standing as the airport’s leading cargo handling provider by volume. The agreement also reflects the continued growth of Liège Airport as a major European logistics hub, particularly for international freight and express shipments.

Philippe Torry, Managing Director Belgium at WFS, noted that the contract represents another step in the company’s long-standing relationship with Qatar Airways Cargo. He emphasised that meeting the airline’s high operational standards remains a priority, and that the new agreement demonstrates WFS’s ability to deliver consistent, high-quality services across its global network.

Liège Airport continues to experience strong growth in cargo volumes. In 2025, the airport recorded a 14% increase in annual freight throughput, reaching 1.32 million tonnes. This positive trend has carried into 2026, with first-quarter cargo volumes rising by 15.6% year-on-year to 342,845 tonnes. Aircraft movements also increased during the same period, growing by 7% to 7,247 flights, reflecting sustained demand for cargo capacity.

Through this new contract, WFS is further expanding its footprint in the European air cargo market, supporting the efficient movement of goods and strengthening its role in global logistics operations.
