(PRESS RELEASE) COLOGNE, Germany, 2026-May-28 — /Travel PR News/ — Lufthansa is further strengthening its premium long-haul offering for the 2026/27 winter season, with a significant expansion of destinations served by its new Allegris cabin and the introduction of several new routes across the wider Lufthansa Group network.

Following the rollout of Lufthansa’s new in-flight service on all long-haul flights in early May, the airline will substantially increase the number of destinations where passengers can experience Allegris, its new cabin concept introduced in 2024. The interior is designed to offer a more personalised travel experience across all classes, combining innovative seating, high-quality materials and modern onboard technology.

In winter 2026/27, Lufthansa will offer Allegris on flights to eleven new destinations. From Frankfurt, the new Allegris long-haul destinations will include Vancouver, Houston, Denver, Atlanta, Detroit, San José in Costa Rica, Seoul and Kuala Lumpur. The new nonstop service from Frankfurt to Kuala Lumpur will begin on 25 October and operate five times per week.

The Kuala Lumpur route marks an important addition to Lufthansa’s Southeast Asia network and reflects the airline’s focus on growth in a dynamic region. The service will be operated with the Boeing 787-9, one of the most modern and efficient aircraft in Lufthansa’s fleet. The aircraft will feature 287 seats across three travel classes and the new Allegris cabin. Lufthansa will also deploy the Boeing 787-9 with Allegris on flights from Frankfurt to Chennai starting in March.

From Munich, Lufthansa’s new Allegris destinations will include Singapore from late October, Washington from March 2027 and Cape Town in South Africa. The expansion gives travellers more opportunities to experience the airline’s newest cabin product on both transatlantic and long-haul leisure and business routes.

Lufthansa will also increase weekly frequencies on several high-demand long-haul routes during the winter season. From Frankfurt, additional frequencies are planned to Rio de Janeiro, San José, Bogotá, Lagos and Hyderabad. From Munich, more flights will be offered to São Paulo, Mexico City, Johannesburg and Washington.

Across the Lufthansa Group, other airlines are also expanding their winter schedules. SWISS will add Bengaluru in southern India to its network for the first time, while also bringing its new long-haul experience, SWISS Senses, to Johannesburg and Shanghai on Airbus A350 aircraft.

ITA Airways will launch a new seasonal direct service from Rome-Fiumicino to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic for the winter 2026/27 season. The route marks the airline’s first entry into the Central American market. ITA Airways will also continue to include the Rome-Fiumicino to Houston and Rome-Fiumicino to London Heathrow routes, which were introduced during the current summer season.

Brussels Airlines will extend its new Brussels to Kilimanjaro service into the winter schedule following strong demand. The route, originally planned as a summer-only service, will continue with one weekly flight between 28 October and 16 December, followed by two weekly flights from 19 December to 21 February.

Discover Airlines is adding two new Moroccan destinations for winter 2026/27. From late October, the airline will connect Frankfurt with Agadir and offer the only direct connection from Munich to Fès. Discover Airlines will also expand its Nordic winter programme with a new weekly direct flight from Munich to Ivalo in Finnish Lapland from mid-December to mid-April.

Edelweiss will further expand its services to Finland and Norway due to strong demand for Scandinavia. The airline will also extend the season for Luleå in Swedish Lapland, which was added to its network last year. Additional flights to destinations in Finland, Norway and Sweden are in planning and will be announced in the coming weeks. Edelweiss will also increase capacity to the Canary Islands, Faro, Bilbao, Seville and Mallorca.

Eurowings, Germany’s largest holiday airline, is expanding its winter 2026/27 network with a focus on high-demand European routes. From Berlin, where Eurowings is the market leader at the German capital’s airport, the airline will strengthen services to European cities and Nordic winter destinations. New additions include a Berlin to Kuusamo route in Finnish Lapland, along with increased frequencies to Rovaniemi and Kittilä. Eurowings will also continue expanding its Capital Express from Berlin, launching flights to Rome on 2 November and offering London Heathrow services during the winter. From Düsseldorf, Eurowings will extend its Madrid service beyond the summer season and offer the route year-round.

All destinations in the Lufthansa Group’s 2026/27 winter flight schedule are now available for booking.
