Kruger National Park game drive with Acacia Africa

London, UK, 2026-May-29 — /Travel PR News/ — South Africa’s Kruger National Park is set to mark its centenary on 31 May 2026, celebrating 100 years since its formal proclamation as the country’s first national park. Established in 1926 through the merger of the Sabie and Shingwedzi reserves, the park’s origins date back to 1898, when early conservation efforts were introduced to protect declining wildlife populations.

One of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations, the 7,570 square mile Kruger, which is home to the Big Five and hundreds of bird species, attracts close to two million visitors annually. A pachyderm paradise, over 30,000 elephants also reside in the park, along with the elusive and mostly nocturnal secret seven, including the aardvark, African wild cat, civet, large-spotted genet, pangolin, porcupine,

A regular feature on Acacia Africa’s itineraries, the 7-day Kruger, Eswatini & Durban Adventure Camping tour is priced from £915 + Adventure Pass £74 (no single supplement). Showcasing the diversity of South Africa and Swaziland (Eswatini), the itinerary combines game viewing in the Kruger National Park with a stay at Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary and a cruise on the St. Lucia estuary. En route travellers can experience Swazi and Zulu cultures and soak up the energy of Durban, where the tour comes to a close.

Arno Delport, Sales and Marketing Manager, comments, “A firm favourite, direct flights from the UK into South Africa allow travellers to jet off on their adventure without transiting the Middle East, the country delivering unforgettable encounters with nature and journeys that stay with you long after you return home.”

Also celebrating a milestone in 2026, Acacia Africa has been operating for 30 years, the company’s adventure camping and accommodated tours combining the traditional safari with a wealth of pursuits.
