St. Petersburg, Russia, 2018-Dec-05 — /Travel PR News/ — Radisson is delighted to announce a new partnership with St. Petersburg Street Art Museum.
Street art is growing in importance as a fundamental part of contemporary art worldwide. Within this artistic landscape, the Street Art Museum has a very strong and peculiar identity.
At first glance, St. Petersburg seems to be all about the past. From its early days, the city was intended to display both the grandeur and the history of Russia: grand palaces and cathedrals, beautiful squares, elegant canals and great halls. It’s a treasure trove of culture and art with hundreds of museums. But it is also a city with a growing contemporary spirit: that’s why you will find nothing quite like the Street Art Museum.
Radisson decided to partner with the Street Art Museum as it’s a truly unique and surprising element in this landscape. Located on the functioning Laminated Plastics factory in the East of the city, the Museum is a jewel far from the cultural hotspots tourists usually go to and perfectly embodies the synergy and interaction that has to be created between a work of art and the surrounding urban context.
In order to discover more about this incredible project, Radisson caught up with Aleksandr Mushchenko, Technical Production Director of the museum, and had a long conversation about his daily activities, his main responsibilities, the challenges he faces every day on the job, the role of the museum and the importance of street art on the world stage, also revisiting the very beginning of his great adventure and his first experiences of street art.
Even if street art is getting more and more important by the day, in St. Petersburg it’s hard to pinpoint the locations of these artworks. Like Aleksandr Mushchenko pointed out, there are very few tours around the city organized by art enthusiasts to see these incredible pieces. That’s why Radisson, in collaboration with several influencers, decided to create an interactive map of the street art key locations in St. Petersburg.
