New Qatar Airways South America Routes Strengthen Connectivity Between the Middle East and Latin America
(IN SHORT) Qatar Airways will launch new services to Bogotá and Caracas from 22 July 2026, becoming the first Gulf carrier to serve Venezuela and the first airline to connect the Middle East directly with both cities. The twice-weekly route will operate via Doha, Bogotá, and Caracas, expanding Qatar Airways’ Americas network to 16 destinations. The airline said the schedule has been designed to improve onward connectivity through Doha to destinations across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East while supporting growing demand for international travel and trade links between South America and the Gulf region.
(PRESS RELEASE) DOHA, Qatar, 2026-May-11 — /Travel PR News/ — Qatar Airways has announced the launch of new flight services to Caracas and Bogotá beginning on 22 July 2026, marking a major expansion of the airline’s network across the Americas and establishing new direct connectivity between the Middle East and northern South America.
The new routes will make Qatar Airways the first Gulf carrier to operate services to Venezuela and the first airline to offer flights from the Middle East to both Caracas and Bogotá. The expansion also strengthens the airline’s growing presence across the Americas, where it will now serve 16 destinations.
The new service will operate twice weekly using a routing connecting Doha, Bogotá, and Caracas. Flights are scheduled every Wednesday and Sunday, with outbound services departing from Doha to Bogotá before continuing onward to Caracas, while return flights will operate directly from Caracas back to Doha.
According to the airline, the schedule has been specifically designed to provide seamless onward connections through Hamad International Airport to destinations across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, including Australia, China, Japan, Lebanon, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates.
The launch forms part of Qatar Airways’ broader strategy to continue rebuilding and expanding its global route network, which is expected to exceed 160 destinations during the 2026 summer season.
The new South American expansion also reinforces the airline’s long-term commitment to strengthening global connectivity between emerging and underserved international markets. Qatar Airways first entered the South American market in 2010 with the launch of services to São Paulo, Brazil, and has continued expanding its network across the region over the following years.
Under the planned schedule, flight QR783 will depart Doha at 07:30 and arrive in Bogotá at 16:05 before continuing to Caracas, arriving at 20:40. The return service from Caracas to Doha will depart at 22:40 and arrive in Qatar the following evening.
The announcement comes amid increasing competition among global carriers to expand long-haul connectivity across Latin America, where demand for both passenger and cargo traffic between the Middle East, Asia, and South America has continued to grow.
Industry analysts have also noted the strategic significance of establishing direct links between Gulf aviation hubs and northern South America, particularly for business travel, tourism, trade, and transit connectivity across multiple continents.
Qatar Airways said the addition of Bogotá and Caracas further supports its objective of providing more flexible international travel options while strengthening connectivity through its Doha hub.
