Incheon Airport wins the ASQ Award for the eighth time and will be hosting the ‘2014 ACI General Assembly’

Incheon, Korea, 2013-06-13 — /travelprnews.com/ — Incheon Airport had the honor of being named as the best in airport service for eight consecutive years, at an award ceremony organized by the Airports Council International (ACI) at the Çıragan Palace Hotel Kempinski in Istanbul, Turkey on June 12th (local time in Korea).

At the ACI World Congress handover ceremony which followed the award ceremony, President and CEO of Incheon Airport Chang-Soo Jung officially declared that Incheon Airport will be hosting the ‘2014 ACI General Assembly’ planned for May 2014 as he delivered an address to invite airports across the world to attend.

Among over 1,700 airports worldwide, Incheon Airport is the one and only airport which has been named the best in the ASQ (Airport Service Quality) survey for eight years in a row from 2005 to 2012. The results of the survey show that Incheon Airport won the top place by acquiring 4.95 out of the full score of 5, leaving behind its competitors Singapore Airport and Beijing Airport. The Airport has earned the highest scores for eight years in a row in the categories of 『Best Airport in Asia-Pacific』and 『Best Airport – 25 to 40 million passengers』which are the two groups in which the Airport was nominated. These are also the two groups that featured the fiercest competition among airports.

3st Beijing Mumbai

The results of ASQ survey were released in the categories of Best Airport by Size, Best Airport by Region, Best Airport by Region (fewer than 2 million passengers per year), and Best Improvement.

Earlier in November 2011 when ACI named Incheon Airport as the World’s best airport for six years in a row, the Airport was given the honor of being listed on the ACI’s ‘Roll of Excellence’ program as the World’s Best Airport for the first time in airport industry as its contribution toward raising the airport service standard was recognized worldwide. It seemed that Incheon Airport had achieved an unbreakable record in the history of airport industry by winning the award for six consecutive years.

However, the Airport became the one who broke its own record by proving to be the best service provider in the world keeping winning in the competition with major airports in the region who have been recently going through facility expansion and service improvement.

In winning the top place in the ASQ survey, President and CEO of Incheon Airport Chang-Soo Jung commented that “The successful achievement of winning the ASQ Award for eight years in a row was impossible without government’s policy support based on long-term perspective around building a Northeast Asia Hub-Airport, active cooperation from resident agencies and contractors, and ceaseless efforts of fully committed staff and workers at the Airport which have generated a great level of synergy together.”

He added that “We will not stay content with what we have achieved, but will continue doing our best to provide the World’s top service to our clients and lead the global airport service.”

The airport has also named “Airport of the Year 2013” in World Air Cargo Awards at the Air Cargo Week award ceremony held in Munich, Germany last Thursday, proving its competitiveness in both freight and passenger services.
