(PRESS RELEASE) GENEVA, Switzerland, 2026-May-12 — /Travel PR News/ — MSC Cruises has officially launched its first-ever Alaska cruise season, with the newly upgraded MSC Poesia departing Seattle on the company’s inaugural voyage to the region.

The sailing marks MSC Cruises’ entry into the Alaska market, expanding the cruise line’s North American presence and giving guests access to one of the world’s most sought-after cruise destinations through a series of seven-night itineraries operating until September 2026.

Departing weekly from Seattle, MSC Poesia will visit several well-known Alaskan destinations including Ketchikan, Juneau and Icy Strait Point, while also stopping in Victoria, Canada. The itineraries feature scenic cruising through Endicott Arm fjord, offering passengers views of the Dawes Glacier and the surrounding wilderness landscapes.

The Alaska deployment follows a major upgrade programme for MSC Poesia, including the addition of the MSC Yacht Club, the company’s luxury “ship-within-a-ship” concept that provides private suites, exclusive lounge areas and personalized services. The ship has also received updates to its dining, wellness and entertainment facilities as part of the refurbishment.

MSC Cruises said the enhanced onboard experience is designed to complement the Alaska itineraries by combining destination-focused programming with upgraded hospitality and leisure offerings.

Among the ship’s new features are an upgraded MSC Aurea Spa, an expanded fitness area featuring the MSC Gym powered by Technogym®, new workout studios and a Gentleman’s Barber service. The cruise line has also introduced additional specialty dining venues, including Butcher’s Cut, an American-style steakhouse, and Kaito Sushi Bar, offering sushi and Asian-inspired cuisine.

For the Alaska season, MSC Cruises has also developed destination-inspired culinary offerings tailored specifically to the region. Guests will be able to enjoy expanded seafood selections, regional dishes, warming beverages and cocktails inspired by Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.

Entertainment programming aboard MSC Poesia has also been enhanced for the season, including performances of “Dirty Dancing: In Concert,” a live-to-film production combining live musicians, singers and dancers with screenings of the iconic movie. Additional onboard activities include themed parties, live music, comedy shows, family programming and destination-focused experiences such as wildlife talks, narrated scenic cruising and workshops inspired by Alaskan geography and culture.

As part of its sustainability and environmental engagement initiatives in Alaska, MSC Cruises announced a partnership with ORCA to support marine wildlife research and education. During peak whale season, an ORCA expert will travel onboard MSC Poesia to assist with crew training and provide guests with educational programmes focused on Alaska’s marine ecosystems and whale populations.

MSC Cruises confirmed that MSC Poesia will return to Alaska for the 2027 summer season beginning in April next year, with itineraries already open for booking.

Following the conclusion of the Alaska season in September, the vessel will reposition to the Caribbean for Winter 2026/2027 sailings before later returning to the Pacific Northwest. Between seasonal deployments, the ship will also operate MSC Grand Voyage itineraries transiting the Panama Canal between Miami and Seattle.
