A conservation-driven step for aviation as flydubai joins United for Wildlife to combat illegal wildlife trade

(NEWS) DUBAI, 2025-Nov-28 — /Travel PR News/ — Flydubai has strengthened its role in global conservation efforts by signing the Buckingham Palace Declaration, formally joining United for Wildlife’s Transport Taskforce — an international coalition focused on stopping illegal wildlife trafficking across air transport channels. The airline announced its participation during the Dubai Airshow 2025, positioning itself alongside carriers and enforcement agencies working to detect, disrupt, and prevent the movement of endangered species through global travel networks.

The agreement was signed by Mohamed Hassan, flydubai’s Senior Vice President of Airport Services & Cargo, who represented the airline as it committed to enhancing screening measures, improving supply-chain awareness, and sharing intelligence to prevent trafficked wildlife products from entering legitimate air transport systems. As part of the taskforce founded by Prince William and The Royal Foundation, flydubai will collaborate with customs, airlines, and law-enforcement bodies across its 135-destination network to support coordinated response and risk detection.

Chief Executive Officer Ghaith Al Ghaith said the carrier recognises aviation’s responsibility in combatting wildlife crime, noting that joining United for Wildlife aligns with the UAE’s wider environmental protection ambitions. The airline intends to expand awareness among employees and passengers to discourage the transport or purchase of prohibited wildlife goods, reinforcing responsible travel behaviour.

Lord William Hague, Co-Chair of United for Wildlife, welcomed the Dubai-based carrier, highlighting the strategic significance of flydubai’s network across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East — regions often linked to illegal wildlife movement routes. The collaboration further contributes to aviation-sector efforts to build more resilient transport systems capable of identifying and intercepting illicit shipments.
