Winnipeg Airports Authority announces the appointment of Brita Chell as Chair and Kenneth Grower as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, 2020-Feb-12 — /Travel PR News/ — Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA) is excited to announce the appointment of Brita Chell as Chair and Kenneth Grower as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors.

Brita is the first female Board Chair in the history of WAA. She succeeds Tom Payne Jr., who served as Chair for the past five years and retired from the position, effective December 31, 2019. Brita joined the Board in April of 2015, serving as a member of the Audit Committee and more recently, the Governance Committee. Brita is the Chief Financial Officer of G3 Canada Limited and a leader in the community, having served as chapter president for the Financial Executives International Canada and is currently a member of the St.Amant board.

“I am greatly honoured to be elected as Chair and excited to take on an expanded role with the Winnipeg Airports Authority Board of Directors,” said Brita. “I wish to welcome all new members to the Board and look forward to working with the entire WAA team to lead transportation innovation and growth for the benefit of our community. I’d like to thank Tom Payne for his leadership and dedication, acknowledging the tremendous contributions he made to WAA over the past decade.”

Vice Chair Kenneth Grower has been a member of the WAA Board since July 2018 and is currently part of the Audit Committee. After spending his career with BDO, Kenneth retired in 2010 as a Senior Taxation Partner. He has since been involved in a variety of local and national organizations, including sitting on the boards of the University of Winnipeg, the Canadian Tax Foundation and AGF Ltd. — a Winnipeg manufacturing company.

In addition to the appointments of Chair and Vice Chair, WAA is pleased to welcome three new members to its Board of Directors:

  • Ian Smart is the President of Motor Coach Industries Inc. and was nominated by Economic Development Winnipeg.
  • James Wilson is the Vice President, Corporate Development at Arctic Gateway Group LP. and was nominated bythe City of Winnipeg.
  • Rob Penner is the President and CEO for Bison Transport and was nominated by the RM of Rosser.
