  • UK’s biggest bus and coach operator on the hunt for new graduates for 2020
  • Graduate programme offers proven opportunities for future managers and leaders
  • Applications until 31 December 2019 at www.stagecoachgrads.com

Perth, Scotland, 2019-Nov-06 — /Travel PR News/ — Stagecoach is on the hunt for a team of new graduates to join the UK’s biggest bus and coach business from September 2020.

As part of the Graduate Leadership Programme, successful candidates are provided with a two year rotational training programme covering all areas of the business such as safety, operations, commercial, engineering, people and marketing, right across the country from Inverness to Exeter. The programme is designed to provide Stagecoach with its future managers and leaders.

Six of the 19 Stagecoach bus managing directors started life on the graduate scheme, including Matthew Cranwell, who joined the graduate scheme in 2004. He was promoted through a number of senior positions before becoming Managing Director for Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire and more recently for Stagecoach East Midlands, a business that runs 460 buses across Lincoln, Hull, Grimsby, Skegness, Worksop, Mansfield, Gainsborough and Scunthorpe and employs 1,300 people across eight depots.

Matthew Cranwell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “This is an excellent programme that really provides you with the knowledge of how our business works. It’s a great opportunity to have a go at all the jobs and get insight into what our staff have to do on a daily basis to keep over 8,300 buses, coaches and trams running reliably for our customers.

“This programme really exceeded all my expectations and I would encourage anybody to give it a go – it provides a great opportunity with one of the country’s most experienced transport operators.”

The next Stagecoach Graduate Leadership Programme starts in September 2020, and applications need to be submitted by 31 December 2019 at www.stagecoachgrads.com. Full information on the criteria can be found on the Graduates website but in summary, the minimum requirements are a 2:2 degree in any subject from any institution by September 2020, a drivers licence plus the obligatory right to work.  It is open to all internal and external applicants.

Clare Burles, People Director for Stagecoach, added: “Our business is built on our people and we are proud to have a diverse, high-quality team. By continuing to invest in our managers and leaders of the future and nurturing the next generation of talent to support our business, we can better serve our customers and communities.

“We’re exceptionally proud of our track record of not only developing graduates into managers and leaders through this programme, but also offering continued progression within our business.”
