MOSCOW, RUSSIA, 2015-1-21 — /Travel PR News/ — Passenger traffic for international airlines in 2014 remained at the same level of the previous year, totaling 18,493,000 million passengers, with domestic airlines increasing by 22.8%, totaling 13,075,000 passengers.
According to figures from December 2014, passenger traffic at Sheremetyevo Airport grew by 5.2% as compared with the same period in 2013, amounting to 2,221,000 passengers. Passenger traffic from international airlines in December has reached 1,215,000 passengers, with domestic airline traffic reaching 1,006,000 passengers.
Antalya, Paris, Prague, Beijing, Hurghada, Rome, New-York, Amsterdam, Shanghai, Kiev and Sharm-el-Sheikh, were among the most popular foreign destinations, while St. Petersburg, Simferopol, Sochi, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Mineralnye Vody, Rostov-On-Don, Kaliningrad, Samara, Vladivostok, and Khabarovsk being the most sought-after domestic destinations.
The main airlines showing growth in passenger traffic in 2014 were Aeroflot, Nordwind Airlines, Donavia, Orenburg Airlines, Nordavia-RA, and AirFrance.
From 2014, Sheremetyevo Airport supported the execution of 255 570 take-off and landing operations, which is 4.8% more compared with the same period in 2013. In December alone, the volume of take-off and landing operations grew by 2.9%, reaching 20 414 operations.
Sheremetyevo International Airport is recognized as the top European airport offering the best service quality in year 2013 according to the results of Airport Service Quality research program of ACI (Airports Council International).
