(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, Sweden, 2026-Jun-8 — /Travel PR News/ — SAS and Garuda Indonesia have announced a new codeshare agreement that will create more convenient travel options between the Nordic region and Indonesia, using the wider international route networks of both airlines.
The cooperation is designed to make journeys smoother for passengers travelling between Indonesia’s main gateways, including Jakarta and Bali, and key Scandinavian cities such as Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo. Travellers will be able to connect through major hubs including Amsterdam and Tokyo Haneda, with Bangkok also joining the connection options from the Winter 2026/2027 season.
The agreement was formalised at the IATA Annual General Meeting in Rio de Janeiro, where it was signed by Neil Raymond Mills, Director of Transformation at Garuda Indonesia, and Anko van der Werff, President and CEO of SAS.
For SAS, the partnership expands access to one of Southeast Asia’s important travel markets, giving its customers new ways to reach Indonesia through Garuda Indonesia’s network. For Garuda Indonesia, the agreement provides stronger access to Scandinavia through SAS’ hubs and regional network, opening improved travel possibilities for customers heading to Northern Europe.
Anko van der Werff said Garuda Indonesia is an important partner for strengthening links between Scandinavia, Indonesia and the wider region. He noted that the partnership will make travel easier for people, companies and communities connected across these markets, while creating new opportunities between Scandinavia and one of Asia’s most dynamic regions.
The cooperation also supports the broader network strategy of both carriers as members of SkyTeam. By aligning selected routes under a codeshare framework, SAS and Garuda Indonesia will be able to offer passengers a more connected travel experience across Europe and Southeast Asia.
Frequent flyer benefits are also part of the agreement. Members of SAS EuroBonus and GarudaMiles will be able to earn and redeem points across the combined network, adding further value for leisure and business travellers using the new codeshare itineraries.
Customers will be able to book itineraries included in the codeshare through the sales channels of both airlines from 9 June 2026. Travel under the agreement will begin from 15 June 2026.
