New iPad Edition of ZOONOOZ Magazine Features Panda Program History
2012-11-04 — /travelprnews.com/ — The panda cub’s furry belly was on full display this morning as the rambunctious boy was examined during his 11th veterinary exam. Staff listened to his heart and lungs and checked out his stomach.
“His body condition feels good; he’s a little above average for body condition,” said Tracy Clippinger, senior veterinarian, San Diego Zoo. “He has nice fat stores over his spine, and his belly is good and full. He’s doing great.”
Clippinger also noted that the cub is pushing up on all four legs now, and while he is beyond crawling, he isn’t quite yet to the walking stage. She also saw his first tooth, on the upper left side of his mouth.
The San Diego Zoo today released the November iPad edition of ZOONOOZ, which features an extensive look at the history of the San Diego Zoo’s panda program. The iPad version of the publication includes a first-person account of the beginning of the panda loan program with China written by Ron Swaisgood, Ph.D., co-head of the Giant Panda Conservation Unit for the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research. This electronic version also contains an article about the birth of the Zoo’s sixth cub, a panda family tree with all the cubs born at the San Diego, and profiles of all the pandas that have ever been at the San Diego Zoo.
This special panda issue also offers an imbedded link to PandaCam at http://www.pandacam/sandiegozoo.org and bonus photos and videos that aren’t available anywhere else. ZOONOOZ for the iPad is free to download during this introductory period.
