Guests will return back to Rosewood Mayakoba to enjoy the splendor of the 6,272-square-foot Presidential Oceanfront Suite completes with pool, waterfront terraces, and sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea.

In the midst of the jet-set tour, seeking travelers will have the rare opportunity to sit one-on-one with a Mayan Shaman Priest. The private purification ceremony will include a traditional ritual and personalized enlightenment stemming from the 2012 Mayan Prophecy and how to prepare for the new era.

The multi-day immersion culminates on December 21, 2012 (12-21-12) when one cycle ends and a new era begins.  To celebrate, Rosewood Mayakoba will host the New Beginning’s Eve party at the beachfront Palapa, which has hosted the likes of Sofia Vergara, Naomi Campbell, Leonardo DiCaprio and Gwyneth Paltrow. As part of the resort’s $1,000,000 renovation, Rosewood Mayakoba will launch reinvented menus at the three dining venues, including the award-winning Casa del Lago restaurant. Rising above the tranquil waters of the main pool and the emerald lagoon below, the resort’s signature restaurant will feature modern interpretations of local cuisine and its inspirations, including a ‘tiradito’ of tuna with avocado and mango to start followed by new favorites such as lobster risotto with traditional Mayan corn or suckling pig prepared in the traditional Spanish style. A lattice roof of clear glass will be added atop the restaurant’s terrace to allow diners the continued ambiance of dining outside during inclement weather while still enjoying the views of the pool and lagoons lined with lanterns and fire pits. Echoing the hues of the resort’s natural surroundings, Casa Del Lago will be transformed with the addition of new colors and ultra-luxurious fabrics in coral and soft beige.

The resort’s popular Agave Azul & Tequila Library will unveil a Sushi Bar helmed by Yuder Velazquez Coria, whose menu will feature inventive ceviches and rolls, Asian favorites including sashimi salad along with light options from the grill including Ensenada scallops topped with passion fruit. The newly renovated Agave Azul Sushi Bar & Tequila Library will feature a modern and contemporary Mexican style utilizing natural elements of stone and wood throughout. Floor to ceiling glass panels will open up onto the expansive deck overlooking the scenic central lagoon of the property. At the Tequila Library, more than 120 bottles of the finest tequila will be showcased in a modern interpretation of wooden library shelves, backlit to display the impressive collection on the main wall of the bar and restaurant. Agave Azul’s expert resident Tequiliers will continue to provide guests an in depth experience showcasing the art of making and appreciating the “drink of the gods,” while sampling some of the finest labels.

As Rosewood Mayakoba comes alive to celebrate 12-21-12 in style, improvements across the resort will be unveiled on September 25th following the four week renovation, including the renovation and expansion of the Fitness Center at Sense, A Rosewood Spa® to 1,800 square feet, nearly double its original size to feature a new stretching area and the addition of TRX Training System.
