(PRESS RELEASE) COLOGNE, Germany, 2026-Apr-23— /Travel PR News/ — The Lufthansa Group has announced an expansion of its fare portfolio across short- and medium-haul routes, introducing a new Economy Basic entry-level fare designed to provide travelers with more flexible and transparent pricing options. The new fare will be available for booking starting April 28, with travel commencing from May 19, and will be rolled out gradually across selected routes.

The Economy Basic fare complements the group’s existing fare structure and is aimed particularly at price-sensitive travelers, including those making short trips or day journeys. It includes a personal item such as a laptop bag or small backpack, while additional services such as carry-on or checked baggage can be purchased separately. This modular approach allows passengers to tailor their travel experience according to individual needs, balancing cost and convenience.

The updated fare structure will be implemented across multiple airlines within the Lufthansa Group, including Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Lufthansa City Airlines, and Air Dolomiti. Bookings will be accessible through digital sales channels, including airline websites and New Distribution Capability (NDC) platforms.

In addition to introducing the new entry-level fare, the Lufthansa Group is enhancing its existing Light fare by adding a rebooking option for a fee. This change is intended to provide greater flexibility and planning security for travelers, reflecting evolving customer expectations for adaptable travel arrangements.

With these updates, the Lufthansa Group will offer a total of four distinct Economy Class fare options and three Business Class fare categories. The expanded structure is designed to make fare differences clearer and easier to understand, enabling passengers to select options that best match their travel preferences and budgets.

The move reflects a broader industry trend toward more personalized and flexible pricing models, allowing airlines to cater to a wider range of customer segments while improving transparency and customer choice.
