London City Airport recorded its busiest ever February with 33.4% increase in passengers compared to February 2014

Edinburgh, Dublin and Amsterdam are busiest routes.

LONDON, 2015-3-5 — /Travel PR News/ — London City Airport (LCY) experienced its busiest ever February last month, with a 33.4% increase in passengers compared to February 2014.

Edinburgh, Dublin and Amsterdam were the airport’s busiest routes with a combined total of 112,380 passengers over the month.

Edinburgh and Dublin are both benefitting from increased capacity as a result of new services by Flybe and British Airways, offering greater travel flexibility to passengers.

London to Dublin was revealed as the world’s second busiest route last year and following

British Airways and Flybe’s launch of flights from London City Airport, alongside existing flights with CityJet, LCY now offers the most daily flights to Dublin from any UK airport.

Meanwhile, an increase in skiers heading to the slopes led to an increase of 8% in passengers travelling to Geneva in February 2015, compared with the same period last year.

Declan Collier, CEO at London City Airport said: “February has been a very good month for London City Airport, with improvements in the financial services and insurance industries – as well as the financial recovery as a whole – appearing to be major factors. Our busiest ever February day came just two days after the FTSE 100 closed on a record high, seemingly a reflection of growing confidence across the UK economy.

“The figures underline the airport’s commitment to delivering on its customer pledges of speed, location and customer experience. Our passengers benefit from the airport’s regional connectivity, greater number of flight options, and record of being the UK’s most punctual airport with the most flights on time and shortest average delay.

“The numbers also highlight the importance of our expansion plans. We must develop our infrastructure in order to cope with increased demand and deliver the very best service possible to passengers travelling to and from London City Airport.”
