Kansas City International Airport recorded 1,018,671 passengers in March, a 0.3% increase from March 2018

Kansas City, MO, 2019-Apr-24 — /Travel PR News/ — The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that 1,018,671 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in March, a 0.3 percent increase from March 2018. Passenger boardings were up 0.7 percent, with a total of 508,285 boarded. For the year to date, total passengers in and out total 2,646,485, up 1.8 percent. Year-to-date passenger boardings are 1,320,485, up 1.7 percent.

“March continued the trend of year-over-year growth, despite some flight cancellations because of weather,” said Pat Klein, Kansas City director of aviation. “March 2019 was the 18th consecutive month of growth, first million-passenger month of the year and third busiest March in airport history.”

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were down 5.9 percent in March with a total of 17.5 million pounds handled. Year to date, 50.3 million pounds of air freight have been handled, down 1.7 percent. Air freight handled at KCI during March amounted to 17.1 million pounds, which is down 5.3 percent year-over-year. Year to date, air freight is down 1.1 percent with a total of 48.7 million pounds handled. Air mail for March was down 24.6 percent from March 2018 with 480,838 pounds handled. Air mail is down 16.8 percent year to date with 1.7 million pounds handled.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for March 2019 was 170. Service was offered to 48 nonstop markets. There was an average of 40,622 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 6 daily departures for March.
