(PRESS RELEASE) MCLEAN, Va., 2024-Jan-20 — /Travel PR News/ — In response to the ongoing devastation caused by the Los Angeles wildfires, Hilton, in partnership with American Express, has announced the availability of 20,000 hotel room nights at no cost for those affected in the greater Los Angeles area. This initiative aims to provide immediate shelter for displaced individuals, with rooms being distributed in coordination with the local nonprofit organization 211 LA, which has already begun assisting those in need.
Hilton, a company with deep roots in Los Angeles—including serving as its headquarters for four decades—has a long-standing commitment to the community. With over 70 years in the region, Hilton is deeply invested in supporting Angelenos during this crisis.
Christopher J. Nassetta, President and CEO of Hilton, expressed the company’s dedication: “Natural disasters take a toll on everyone, and this one is particularly hard for us, given our long history in California. Our founder’s belief in the power of hospitality to make a difference has never been more relevant. We are in constant contact with our local hotels, and we’re incredibly thankful for our team members who have gone above and beyond to assist both the community and one another.”
American Express Chairman and CEO Stephen J. Squeri added, “In these times of great need, we are proud to once again partner with Hilton to offer shelter to those displaced by these devastating wildfires, as well as to the brave first responders working tirelessly to combat the fires. Our thoughts are with all those affected, and we remain committed to supporting both immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts in the region.”
This collaboration between Hilton and American Express builds on a history of working together to provide vital accommodations during crises. Over the past five years, the two companies have offered more than 2 million rooms to those in need, including families, individuals, and first responders.
In addition to offering free accommodations, Hilton and The Hilton Global Foundation are further supporting first responders by contributing to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the International Association of Fire Fighters Foundation. Hilton Honors members can also participate in relief efforts by donating points to support the American Red Cross, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, and other charitable organizations.
Hilton team members at more than 80 Los Angeles-area hotels have been working around the clock to ensure guest safety and provide assistance to those affected. In many cases, local hotels began offering discounted rooms almost immediately to support the local community.
