Five airports operated by Airports Company South Africa awarded by the Airports Council International (ACI) for their excellence in customer service

Johannesburg, South Africa, 2014-2-20 — /travelprnews.com/ — Airports Company South Africa is proud to announce that five of its airports have been awarded by the Airports Council International (ACI) for their excellence in customer service as recognised by their passengers. O.R. Tambo International, Cape Town International, King Shaka International, Upington International Airports and East London Airport have taken top positions in their categories in the prestigious 2013 Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards.

These latest achievements by Airports Company South Africa are a testament to the company’s on-going commitment to service excellence.

“It is perhaps timely that the awards announcement comes as we acknowledge South Africa’s 20 years of democracy and after having celebrated Airports Company South Africa’s 20 years of business excellence in 2013. As a company, we continuously strive to improve our customer service by ensuring our airports meet passengers’ needs unreservedly.  We are honoured to be recognised by ACI in this way,” says Bongani Maseko, Airports Company South Africa’s Managing Director.

Capturing passengers’ immediate appraisal from check-in through departure at the gate at more than 285 airports, the ASQ awards are the industry’s most comprehensive customer service benchmarking programme. These awards represent passengers’ views on 34 key service indicators and serve as objectives for top performing airports worldwide.

“The results over time demonstrate that airports are paying close attention to the feedback from their passengers and undertaking corrective action to improve the passenger experience,” said Angela Gittens, Director General ACI World.

“As we face an increasingly competitive and demanding sector, ACI affords Airports Company South Africa the opportunity to plan improvements and benchmark our levels of customer service against other airports. The data gained through the ASQ survey provides information that enables us to identify what our passengers value most and what the airport community needs to do to achieve passenger service excellence,” adds Maseko.

Airports Company South Africa has been presented with the following awards per category:

Best Airport By Region – Africa category:
Cape Town International Airport: first place
King Shaka International Airport: second place
O.R. Tambo International Airport: fifth place
