The first of these aircraft landed on December 29, 2024, with the second following shortly on January 5, 2025. This expansion is part of Fiji Airways’ ongoing strategy to improve domestic capacity and better serve regional communities, particularly in the Northern regions of Fiji.

The new ATRs, each with a seating capacity of 68, will primarily be deployed on regional routes, including services to the Northern and Western divisions of Fiji. These additions will allow for more frequent and efficient services on key domestic routes such as Nadi-Suva and Labasa, further improving access and connectivity throughout Fiji’s extensive regional network. Over time, the airline plans to introduce additional ATR aircraft to strengthen its domestic offerings, ensuring that passengers benefit from enhanced travel options across Fiji, including better connections between domestic and international flights via Nadi Hub.

Fiji Airways’ CEO and Managing Director, Andre Viljoen, emphasized the importance of this expansion, stating, “These two new ATR aircraft represent a major investment in Fiji’s domestic connectivity.
