Emirates Signs MoU with Crypto.com to Introduce Cryptocurrency Payments Next Year

The MoU was signed in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group and Michael Doersam, Emirates’ Chief Financial & Group Services Officer, by Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, and Mohammed Al Hakim, President of Crypto.com’s UAE operations.

(IN SHORT) Emirates Airline has signed an MoU with Crypto.com to explore the addition of Crypto.com Pay to its payment systems, targeting a rollout in 2026. The agreement was inked by Emirates’ Adnan Kazim and Crypto.com UAE’s Mohammed Al Hakim, witnessed by Emirates’ leadership including HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Emirates sees the move as a way to meet rising demand from tech-savvy, crypto-friendly customers and to reinforce Dubai’s broader vision of pioneering financial technology. Crypto.com’s Eric Anziani emphasized that the partnership will bolster mainstream cryptocurrency use in the GCC. Both firms will also coordinate promotional campaigns to educate and encourage adoption. This venture complements Dubai’s expansion as a crypto-friendly jurisdiction, where many businesses already accept digital currencies under a robust regulatory framework.

Adnan Kazim noted that this collaboration underscores Emirates’ dedication to evolving with customer preferences and appealing to younger, digitally native travelers who favor cryptocurrency transactions. “Aligning with Dubai’s ambition to lead in financial innovation, we aim to offer our passengers more flexible payment choices,” he said.

Eric Anziani, President and COO of Crypto.com, added that partnering with a leading global airline will accelerate real-world crypto adoption. “By integrating our payment solution with Emirates, we’re creating momentum for digital assets and delivering innovative financial options to consumers across the GCC,” he commented.

Beyond the technical integration of Crypto.com Pay, the two companies plan to collaborate on joint marketing initiatives to drive awareness and uptake of the new payment method. This partnership aligns with Dubai’s strategy to cement its status as a world-class cryptocurrency hub, underpinned by a supportive regulatory environment that balances innovation with investor protection. Numerous Dubai enterprises already accept cryptocurrencies—from real estate developers to telecom operators—highlighting the emirate’s growing digital economy.
