Phalen joins the DMAI team effective July 6, 2016 and will be based in Washington, D.C. reporting to Welsh. The addition of this new position rounds out Welsh’s senior leadership team, and further supports the Association’s organizational realignment and the renewed commitment to members and partners.

“Don has built a solid leadership team within a very short timeframe,” said Lander. “I am thrilled with the vision and the goals established for the future of DMAI and look forward to what this strategic and energetic team has in store for our members and partners.”

Phalen will direct and manage all educational content and operations for DMAI meetings, webinars and certificate/credential programs in an effort to ensure all goals and objectives are achieved. She will play an integral role in the development of the tools and resources DMAI members want, need and are willing to financially support.

“Colleen will be instrumental in working with the CDME Board and Leadership team as we work to collectively move to the next generation of this important program,” said Welsh. “I look forward to introducing the new team to our members and partners at the Annual Convention in Minneapolis.”

Most recently, Phalen was Senior Director of Meetings and Conventions with the Association of Justice where she reinvented and rebranded the conventions program resulting in increased attendance and net revenue. Prior to the Association of Justice, Phalen held senior management positions with the Consumer Electronics Show, and International Association of Chiefs of Police.

“I am excited to join the DMAI team, and look forward to supporting Don’s vision for the Association,” said Phalen. “I believe so strongly in our industry and in this team, and will immediately engage members and partners to learn more about their expectations and needs.”
