CDA welcomes American Airlines’ new international routes from O’Hare to Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic
CHICAGO, IL, 2019-Aug-09 — /Travel PR News/ — The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) and American Airlines today (08/08/2019) announced new international routes from O’Hare International Airport to Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic starting Summer 2020.
Chicago – Krakow, Poland (John Paul II International Airport) begins May 7
Chicago – Budapest, Hungary (Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport) begins May 7
Chicago – Prague, Czech Republic (Václav Havel Airport) begins May 8
Flights from Chicago to Krakow will operate five times per week, departing O’Hare on Tuesday-Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 6:55 p.m. and arriving at John Paul II International Airport at 11:05 a.m. local time the next day. Returning flights will depart Krakow on Monday, Thursday and Sunday at 1:25 p.m. and arrive to O’Hare at 4:25 p.m. On Wednesday and Friday, flights depart Krakow at 1:05 p.m. and arrive to O’Hare at 4:05 p.m.
Service from Chicago to Prague will depart O’Hare on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 6:50 p.m. and arrive at Václav Havel Airport at 10:50 a.m. local time the next day. Returning flights will depart Prague on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 1:05 p.m. and arrive at O’Hare at 4:05 p.m.
Chicago to Budapest service will depart O’Hare on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 6:50 p.m. and arrive at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport at 11:10 a.m. local time the next day. Returning flights will depart Budapest on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and arrive at O’Hare at 4:25 p.m. local time.
Currently, there are two nonstop passenger routes from Chicago to Poland and one to Budapest, Hungary. There is no nonstop passenger service from Chicago to the Czech Republic.
All of the new flights will be operated by a Boeing 787-8, featuring 20 Flagship Business Class seats and 28 Premium Economy seats.
Attracting new international air services to both O’Hare and Midway International Airports is a key priority at CDA. In addition to generating historic levels of economic activity and tourism for the City and the region, new services to regions around the world have propelled O’Hare as the best-connected hub in the U.S. for three years in a row and second most-connected in the world.
Chicago’s air connectivity stands to thrive further going forward with a modernized airfield and an $8.5 billion plan by the City and the airlines to set the stage for O’Hare’s biggest terminal expansion yet. The O’Hare 21 project is designed to modernize facilities, deliver more gates, new passenger amenities, more economic opportunity for the City of Chicago and keep travelers worldwide connected to Chicago.
