Airport Sheremetyevo unveils the results of “Natural decor in interiors of passenger terminals” project on the International Earth Day

Airport Sheremetyevo presented the results of the project “Natural decor in interiors of passenger terminals” on the International Earth Day. The passengers’ experience was enhanced with “green” decorative installations created with the use of natural plants and materials.

MOSCOW, Russia, 2018-Mar-22 — /Travel PR News/ — The decoration concept of the terminals represents a “green labyrinth” of stylistically connected natural art installations. Guests are greeted by the “forest glade”: a composition in the shape of dissolved pixel pictures made of moss in combination with the wood and stones in the passage between terminals E and F of the airport. The pathway to the unusual art object lies through the “green gate”, made of artificial evergreen boxwood, illuminated from within by LED elements. The combination of juicy greens and natural light creates lovely ambiance and a pleasant mood.

The “Globe of flights” in Terminal D will let the passengers refresh their geography knowledge. The stylish art object represents a globe with illuminated lines of routes served from and to Sheremetyevo.

On the way from Terminal E to Terminal F passengers and guests of the airport will find a small oasis in the stone jungle. Autonomous construction with live plants and automatic irrigation exudes the scent of living greens. The art object is composed the way that, having stopped by only for a couple of minutes, anyone can let go of fatigue and feel better.

Next, travelers can discover a gallery with pictures made of plants treated in a special way. These are natural plants, in which a special liquid replaces the natural juice. It helps preserve natural beauty for a longer time.

Another “green” surprise awaits passengers in Terminal D. It is made in the shape of an aircraft preparing to take off on a new runway. The runway represents an alley of lampposts decorated with artificial ivies; the aircraft is made of artificial boxwood.

Sheremetyevo continues the works aimed at harmonization of technological innovations and natural environment. Over the past few years, the territory of the airport has been greened significantly. The lawns, ornamental trees and other “green oases” were installed. The interior of Mastercard business lounge is decorated with fresh flowers, herbs and noble natural materials — rosewood and marble.

Sheremetyevo employees are involved in the implementation of the company’s environmental policy. The corporate program to collect waste paper “Green Wednesday” has been held several times a year since 2012. The funds raised through the program are given to the “Give Life” charity foundation.

The results of Sheremetyevo’s staff survey shows that information campaigns within the framework of the “Green Wednesday” program and others increase employees’ environmental awareness. The campaigns motivate to recycle used batteries, and to impose separate collection of waste and energy saving.

The “Green labyrinth” and the “Green Wednesday” initiatives were suggested within the program “SVO idea” by Sheremetyevo’s staff and passengers. “SVO idea” program is aimed at implementing the best initiatives and make Sheremetyevo and our Planet more clean and beautiful.
