Vodafone Albania and Tirana International Airport Advance Digital Airport Operations Through Airbus Critical Communications Technology
(IN SHORT) Vodafone Albania and Tirana International Airport have launched “Security That Travels With You”, a strategic technology initiative that brings Airbus’ airport security and mission-critical communications solution to Tirana International Airport. The implementation makes TIA the first airport in the Western Balkans to deploy Airbus’ airport security solution as part of Vodafone Group’s global airport security partnership. Supported by Vodafone Albania’s 5G network, the system is designed to improve real-time communication, operational coordination, emergency response and security management across airport processes. The solution uses Airbus’ push-to-talk technology and Agnet platform, enabling secure instant communication among airport teams and integration with existing airport infrastructure. Vodafone Albania said its role goes beyond connectivity, positioning the company as a builder and integrator of critical digital infrastructure. The initiative is intended to improve safety and efficiency for airport staff and passengers while supporting the digital transformation of Albania’s critical infrastructure.
(PRESS RELEASE) TIRANA, Albania, 2026-May-26 — /Travel PR News/ — Tirana Airport has officially launched “Security That Travels With You” together with Vodafone Albania, introducing a strategic technology initiative designed to strengthen airport security, real-time communication, operational coordination and emergency response at Tirana International Airport.
Through the project, Tirana International Airport becomes the first airport in the Western Balkans to deploy Airbus’ airport security solution as part of Vodafone Group’s global airport security partnership. The solution is supported by Vodafone Albania’s 5G network and is designed to improve the way airport teams communicate, coordinate and manage security-related operations.
The partnership between Tirana International Airport, Vodafone Albania and Airbus marks an important step in the digital transformation of airport operations in Albania. By combining Airbus’ advanced critical communications technology with Vodafone Albania’s high-performance 5G infrastructure, the initiative provides airport staff with faster, more secure and more reliable tools for daily operations and emergency situations.
The solution directly supports airport operational teams by enabling more efficient communication and faster coordination across key airport processes. It allows instant and secure communication between teams, supports advanced emergency coordination, enables real-time security management and integrates with the airport’s existing infrastructure.
The “Security That Travels With You” initiative reflects a broader effort to use advanced digital infrastructure to raise safety and efficiency standards for both employees and passengers. Vodafone Albania’s role extends beyond traditional connectivity, with the company acting as a builder and integrator of critical infrastructure to support the seamless operation of the airport’s security and communication systems.
Piervittorio Farabbi, Chief Operating Officer of Tirana International Airport, said the implementation represents a major step forward for the airport. “Today, Tirana International Airport is taking a major step forward by implementing Airbus’ critical communications platform, supported by Vodafone Albania’s advanced 5G connectivity. Together, we are building a resilient digital infrastructure that ensures safer operations, real-time coordination, and supports Albania’s sustainable economic development,” he said.
Balázs Révész, CEO of Vodafone Albania, said the project shows the company’s growing role as a technology partner for critical infrastructure. “This project clearly demonstrates that Vodafone’s role today goes far beyond traditional telecommunications. Through partnerships with global leaders such as Airbus and strategic institutions like Tirana International Airport, we are bringing international expertise, proven technologies, and advanced standards to Albania, supporting the operation of critical infrastructure. Our ambition is to be the technology partner helping build the digital foundations on which the modern economy relies,” he said.
Lionello Ginelli, Key Account Manager for Southern Europe at Airbus Public Safety and Security, highlighted the practical value of the solution. “By combining Airbus’ mission-critical Agnet platform with Vodafone’s premium connectivity, we are delivering a complete, top-tier solution tailored to the needs of our users,” he said.
The communication system implemented at Tirana International Airport is based on Airbus’ push-to-talk technology and its mission-critical Agnet platform, which has been tested globally in aviation, public safety and critical infrastructure environments. The system enables instant and secure communication between operational teams and supports advanced coordination during emergency situations.
Through its 5G network, Vodafone Albania is supporting the digital transformation of national critical infrastructure and helping introduce advanced technology standards for airport operations, safety and security in Albania.
