Visiting two star Michelin chef to host a dinner at Grand Jersey

2012-10-1 — /travelprnews.com/ — On Monday 1st October Michael Wignall, head chef at The Latymer restaurant at country house hotel Pennyhill Park, will be cooking up a treat for 20 lucky diners in Tassili’s kitchen.

Mr Wignall, who has recently been awarded two Michelin stars, will be visiting Grand Jersey for the second time. General manager at Grand Jersey, Eamonn Elliott, said: ‘This is Mr Wignall’s second visit to Grand Jersey and is an example of how we at Grand Jersey are always looking to offer our clients a range of unique experiences.  At Grand Jersey we plan our special events carefully and for those who really relish exceptional fine dining, this event will be an extraordinary treat.’

Mr Wignall said he was delighted to find out he had been awarded a second Michelin star this year: ‘I’m still in shock to be honest, it’s the best news I’ve had in years and my team and I can’t stop smiling. I am so proud of my team who work to exceptionally high standards for every service, and feel this really is testament to all of their hard work.’

Michael Wignall joined Exclusive Hotels in November 2007; he was previously at The Devonshire Arms Hotel in North Yorkshire where he held a Michelin star and four AA rosettes. His natural flair in the kitchen, expertise and passion for food has ensured that The Latymer is fast becoming one of the best restaurants in the Surrey area.  In 2009 the restaurant scooped four AA Rosettes and its first Michelin star, a year which was followed by even greater success in 2011 in which the restaurant gained with five AA Rosettes (one of only eight restaurants in the UK to receive such an accolade).

Executive head chef at Grand Jersey, Richard Allen, who has just been informed that he has retained his Michelin star, commented: ‘I am delighted to be welcoming Michael to our kitchen for the second time, he is a great chef from whom our team will certainly pick up some great tips!’

Mr Allen has enjoyed a successful year, winning the Restaurant Chef of the Year award at the prestigious Craft Guild of Chefs Awards, being shortlisted for the Hotel Chef of the Year, with less than 250 covers category, and being recognised in the esteemed Debrett’s 2012 People of Today list.

Diners can expect an exquisite seven-course meal at Tassili, Grand Jersey, with champagnes and wine from Perrier Jouet on Monday 1st October.
