(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK, 2026-Mar-12 — /Travel PR News/ — Minor Hotels has announced the global launch of The Wolseley Hotels, a new luxury hospitality brand inspired by the celebrated London dining institution. The brand will make its debut with The Wolseley Hotel New York, scheduled to open in early 2027 in Midtown Manhattan, steps from Bryant Park.
The property will serve as the flagship for the new brand and will also introduce The Wolseley restaurant and bar to the United States for the first time. The opening represents a significant milestone for Minor Hotels as it expands into the luxury hotel market in the United States while establishing a new international brand centred on heritage, refined design and culinary excellence.
The Wolseley Hotel New York will occupy the historic building at 130 West 44th Street, originally constructed in 1905 as the clubhouse for The Lambs Club. Designed by the renowned architectural firm McKim, Mead & White, the building has long been associated with Broadway’s creative community and remains a symbol of New York’s theatrical and cultural history.
By combining British sophistication with the dynamic energy of New York, the hotel aims to deliver a hospitality experience that reflects both European tradition and contemporary urban luxury.
Luxury accommodation and signature dining
The hotel will feature 76 guest rooms and suites, designed to balance classical elegance with modern simplicity. Interiors will highlight refined craftsmanship, carefully considered layouts and bespoke details intended to create a calm and sophisticated atmosphere.
At the centre of the property will be The Wolseley New York, the brand’s first restaurant in North America. Inspired by the grand café concept that defines The Wolseley Piccadilly in London, the restaurant will offer all-day dining and signature cocktails in a lively yet refined setting. The venue is expected to become a social hub within the hotel and a gathering place for both visitors and New York residents.
Additional amenities will include an intimate cellar-level speakeasy bar, designed to provide a more discreet environment for evening cocktails, as well as a completely reimagined wellness and wellbeing centre that reflects the brand’s focus on guest comfort and holistic luxury.
A heritage-inspired brand concept
The Wolseley Hotels draws its inspiration from the iconic Wolseley restaurant in Piccadilly, known for its Art Deco interiors, refined service and reputation as a meeting place for cultural figures, business leaders and international visitors.
The New York property will reinterpret this heritage for a global audience. The design concept combines elegance and intimacy with a vibrant social atmosphere. Guests can expect highly personalised service, thoughtful in-room details and a culinary programme that places dining at the centre of the hotel experience.
Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International, the parent company of Minor Hotels, said the new brand represents an important step forward in the company’s global growth strategy. He noted that the brand aims to create hotels defined by architectural character, exceptional dining experiences and a sense of occasion that elevates the guest experience.
Aviv Laurence, CEO of owner BJGH, described the project as a landmark collaboration that will introduce the Wolseley restaurant concept to the United States while creating a destination that celebrates heritage, hospitality and classic European luxury.
Platform for global expansion
The Wolseley Hotel New York will act as the foundation for the brand’s broader international expansion. Minor Hotels plans to develop additional Wolseley Hotels in major global cities across Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.
Future locations will be carefully selected to maintain the brand’s distinctive identity, where architecture, gastronomy and attentive service come together to create sophisticated hospitality destinations.
