The Steigenberger Airport Hotel Frankfurt celebrates its 50th anniversary

Germany’s first airport hotel marks its golden anniversary

Frankfurt am Main, Germany, 2019-Sep-30 — /Travel PR News/ — The Steigenberger Airport Hotel became Germany’s first airport hotel when it opened for business at Frankfurt Airport on 9 May 1969. Five eventful decades later and proud to be “Fifty & Fab”, it is now celebrating this milestone birthday in style. “With the celebrations for the 50th anniversary, we are honouring one of our historic hotels: The Steigenberger Airport Hotel Frankfurt looks back on a long tradition and offers its guests a city forest location in the immediate vicinity of Germany’s largest airport,” says Thomas Willms, CEO, Deutsche Hospitality.

The Steigenberger Airport Hotel invited selected customers, regular guests and press representatives at the end of September to an official “Studio 69” birthday party on the 10th floor of the Executive Tower – including a skyline view and Taunus panorama. The way there was a tribute to the location: flight attendants greeted the guests in proper style at the airline trolley, and the ride in the elevator became a flying experience with pilots and cabin seats. At the party, guests were treated to flying food & cocktails from five decades, specially designed rooms and music by Jaz in the City-DJ Whtvr wrks. The present was brought to life with the inauguration of the new shuttle buses and the design of the hotel lobby, both in the Evolution Steigenberger design.

The hotel is planning many further anniversary events before the end of the year. A permanent retro-look selfie point has been set up in the lobby. Guests are able to sit on an original 1970’s armchair and take souvenir photos in the style of the time against the background of a nostalgic wallpaper display featuring black and white pictures of the initial years of the hotel’s existence.

The Steigenberger Airport Hotel Frankfurt is situated only about one kilometre from Frankfurt Airport. Despite this proximity, guests are always surprised by the wide countryside views. Most of the rooms in the three-wing hotel building offer views of Frankfurt’s City Forest. The Steigenberger Airport Hotel boasts 544 stylishly furnished rooms, 20 suites and 40 conference rooms. It is a top destination for individual travellers and business visitors alike and offers the ideal setting for meetings, conferences and events. The 40 multifunctional rooms offer optimal infrastructure and state-of-the-art technology for a wide variety of event formats.
