Compete For A Chance To Be Named Shredder of the Mountain

CITY, Country, 2017-Mar-19 — /Travel PR News/ — The Showcase Showdown presented by Burton Snowboards and Vans, one of Canada’s longest running snowboard competitions, is celebrating its 20th anniversary at Whistler Blackcomb on Saturday, March 25, 2017. The competition will be returning to the same location as last year at the top of the Emerald Express chairlift on Whistler Mountain with a new video game themed format.

In keeping with the video game theme, this year’s competition will consist of five “levels”. Each rider will earn points based on their rank in each of the competition “levels” and the rider with the most points overall will be named Shredder of the Mountain.

“We are going back to our roots to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Showcase Showdown with the video game themed Shredder of the Mountain format,” says Deanne Gale, manager at Showcase Snowboards. “The five “levels” of the competition include a jump, rails, a quarter pipe and new this year, the Snake Run and Euro Carve categories.”

Festivities will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, March 25 with registration remaining open during the event for those wanting to join in the fun last minute. With $7,500 in cash and prizes up for grabs courtesy of Burton, Vans, Volcom, Sandbox, Salomon, Skullcandy, Dakine, Samsung and Merlin’s, it will be hard to pass up. New for this year is a beer and barbeque garden next to the course, which will surely make this year’s Showcase Showdown one to remember.
