Hershey, Pa., 2013-04-24 — /travelprnews.com/ — The fourth annual Hershey Half Marathon will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013. Registration for the event is open to 5,000 participants and will open on May 1 on www.Active.com. The Hershey Half Marathon is presented by Capital BlueCross and all net proceeds from the race will benefit Children’s Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
Participants will run 13.1 miles through Chocolate Town, U.S.A., with course highlights featuring running through Hersheypark and along Chocolate Avenue, which has gained international fame for its Hershey’s Kiss-shaped street lights. The Hershey Half Marathon features aid stations every 2 to 2.5 miles beginning at Mile 2; a unique “Chocolate Aid Station”; and a festive finish line in Hersheypark Stadium, where the Hershey’s Product Characters will congratulate finishers. All race participants will receive a race T-shirt and personalized bib. Finishers will receive a unique finisher’s medal. The registration fee also includes two tickets to Hersheypark in the Dark.

This USATF-certified race is open to runners ages 14 and older. Runners can also ‘split the difference’ and register as two-person relay teams. Cash prizes will be awarded to top finishers. Entry fees for the Hershey Half Marathon are as follows:

Single entry, after August 1: $85
Relay entry of two people, through August 1: $120
Relay entry of two people, after August 1: $140
