SSP opens three new outlets at Gran Canaria Airport

2013-02-15 — /travelprnews.com/ — SSP has opened a new Caffè Ritazza, an Upper Crust bakery and a bar at Gran Canaria Airport.

Upper Crust is highly popular with travellers in Spain, and trades strongly at a number of airports across the country including Malaga and Tenerife Sur.  Caffè Ritazza offers travellers a range of world-class bespoke coffees prepared by expert baristas, with warm and friendly service. The new bar, called Tropical, was created in co-operation with local brewery Compania Cervercera Canaria. It is located landside in arrivals and will replace an existing outlet.

The new brands are ideally suited to the unique passenger profile of Gran Canaria Airport, according to Blanca Ripoll, managing director of SSP Spain. ‘Many passengers using this airport arrive early on coaches, and we also have a larger number of visiting coach drivers and other meeters and greeters. Our new airside offer has been designed to give customers somewhere to relax and enjoy the time before their flight, while our landside bar will cater for those who are waiting to meet passengers.’

The new facilities have been introduced as part of a major refurbishment by AENA. Later this summer, they will be further augmented by a new outdoor smoking terrace, which will be part of the Caffè Ritazza located in the check-in hall.

Commenting on the new outlets a spokesperson for AENA said ‘As the only airport on Gran Canaria, it is important that our airport offers passengers a warm welcome and leaves them with pleasant memories. Our new cafés and bars will do much to make a visit to this lovely island even more enjoyable.’

SSP has operated at Gran Canaria since 1994, when it won its first contract on the island.
