SFO cancels weekend runway closure planned for January 25-28, 2013

Weather causes delays in work required for temporary weekend runway closure

SAN FRANCISCO, 2013-01-25 — /travelprnews.com/ — Officials at SFO announced the cancellation of a temporary weekend runway closure which had been planned for January 25-28, 2013. Rainfall in the preceding days prevented construction crews from conducting preparatory work for a closure of Runway 28L from Friday, January 25th through Monday, January 28th, 2013. As a result of the cancelled work, Runway 28L will be open during this period.

An alternate weekend will be selected for the construction activity to be conducted, as part of ongoing work for the federally-mandated Runway Safety Area (RSA) project, which is expected to be complete by the fall of 2015.
