Results of the Preselection Meurice Prize for contemporary art

Hôtel Le Meurice presents, for the fifth consecutive year, the Meurice Prize for contemporary art, and is more committed than ever to defend the young French creation

2012-07-21 — /travelprnews.com/ — On June 18th, 2012, the Jury of the Meurice Prize for contemporary art met in closed session. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Patron of the Prize; Montse Aguer, Director of the Centre for Dalinian Studies ; Matthieu Kleyebe-Abonnenc, Artist and Winner 2011/12; Colette Barbier, Director of the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard ; Philippe Dagen, Writer and Professor at Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne; Jennifer Flay, Managing Director of the FIAC ; Marta Gili, Director of the Musée du Jeu de Paume; Henri Loyrette, Director of the Louvre; Maryvonne Pinault, Collector ; Jean de Loisy, Director of the Palais de Tokyo and Franka Holtmann, General Manager of Hôtel Le Meurice have therefore shortlisted eight artists and their gallery (galleries by alphabetical order):

1. Galerie Art Concept / Alexandre Singh for a film project to be exhibited in Rotterdam, Berlin and Avignon

2. Galerie Bugada & Cargnel / Nick Devereux for a photo and squetch project to be exhibited in Hong-Kong

3. Galerie Raffaella Cortese / Mathilde Rosier for a photo project to be exhibited in Dortmund

3. Galerie Crèvecoeur / Xavier Antin for a film project to be exhibited in New-York and Barcelona

4. Galerie Patricia Dorfmann / Baptiste Debombourg for a piece of art to be exhibited in Cologne

6. Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac / Claire Adelfang for a photo and film project to be exhibited in Warsaw, Berlin and Paris

7. Galerie TORRI / Jean-Baptiste Bernadet for a painting project to be exhibited in New York and Marfa

8. Galerie Triple V / Emmanuelle Lainé for a photo project to be exhibited in Miami and/or Brussels

On October 9th, 2012 the Jury will select the winners, the artist and his gallery, who will be awarded severally the Meurice Prize for contemporary art: €10.000 to the artist and €10.000 to his gallery.

The exhibition of the eight finalists will be open to the public from October 10th to 21st, 2012.
