(PRESS RELEASE) İSTANBUL, 2025-Apr-24 — /Travel PR News/ — The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has unveiled a new Vision and Mission, ushering in a renewed strategic direction that reflects the shifting priorities of the global travel and tourism industry. Emphasising innovation, collaboration, and adaptability, the newly adopted principles are designed to guide the association and its members toward a more inclusive, resilient, and purpose-driven tourism economy.
The updated Vision and Mission were approved by the PATA Board during the PATA Annual Summit 2025, held in İstanbul, and were formally ratified at the 74th Annual General Meeting.
PATA’s new Vision is:
“A meaningful Pacific Asia tourism economy.”
This succinct yet powerful statement encapsulates a long-term commitment to creating tourism outcomes that are socially inclusive, culturally respectful, environmentally conscious, and economically beneficial for all stakeholders. The use of the term “meaningful” underscores a shift towards tourism that delivers tangible and positive change across communities and ecosystems in the Asia Pacific region.
The association’s new Mission is:
“Share knowledge, enable networking, and protect tourism economy assets by fostering innovation, collaboration, and adaptability.”
This mission reflects the pillars of PATA’s 2030 strategic plan, reinforcing its role as a thought leader and platform for knowledge exchange. It also signals a strong commitment to responsible growth, safeguarding tourism assets, and building capacity across member destinations and partners.
PATA Chairman Peter Semone highlighted the importance of this transformation: “With our new direction, we are setting our aspiration on advancing a meaningful tourism economy in Pacific Asia—one where host communities are empowered, tourism stakeholders are valued, businesses grow responsibly, and the environment and cultural heritage are protected.”
The new Vision and Mission position PATA to continue championing tourism as a vehicle for good, aligned with sustainability goals and emerging global challenges. The association will now roll out action plans to integrate these principles into all programmes and partnerships across the Asia Pacific region.
