(IN SHORT) IHG Hotels & Resorts has secured a conversion agreement with Taisei Yuraku Real Estate Co Ltd and Pacifica Hotels G.K. to launch Garner Hotel Kyoto Shijo Karasuma, a 103-room property in Kyoto’s Shijo Karasuma district. After a full-scale renovation integrating Garner’s hallmark aesthetics, the hotel will open in November 2025. Its prime location offers quick access to subway stations, the Shinkansen at Kyoto Station, and key attractions like Nishiki Market and the Imperial Palace. Leadership from IHG, Taisei Yuraku, and Pacifica Hotels highlighted the project’s significance for expanding travel options in the mainstream segment. This addition will raise IHG’s Kyoto portfolio to four operating hotels—with Regent Kyoto on track for 2028—and fortify IHG’s broader Japanese presence of 54 hotels and 17 upcoming openings.
(PRESS RELEASE) TOKYO, Japan, 2025-Jul-4 — /Travel PR News/ — IHG Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Taisei Yuraku Real Estate Co Ltd and Pacifica Hotels G.K. to bring Garner Hotel Kyoto Shijo Karasuma—a 103-room flagship of IHG’s mainstream conversion brand—to the heart of Kyoto. Slated to join the IHG portfolio in November 2025, this property will undergo a comprehensive renovation to introduce Garner’s signature design elements and refreshed interiors.
Situated in the prestigious Shijo Karasuma neighborhood, the hotel will offer guests easy access to Gojo and Shijo subway stations and sit just a ten-minute taxi ride from Kyoto Station’s Shinkansen platforms. Visitors can explore nearby attractions like Nishiki Market, the Kyoto Imperial Palace, and the International Manga Museum, alongside premier shopping districts and department stores.

Upon its November 2025 opening, Garner Hotel Kyoto Shijo Karasuma will join Six Senses Kyoto, ANA Crowne Plaza Kyoto, and Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo, bringing IHG’s active Kyoto portfolio to four hotels—plus an upcoming Regent Kyoto in 2028. Across Japan, IHG currently operates 54 hotels under ten brands, with another 17 properties under development.
