Metrolink to provide free rides all day On Earth Day, Friday, April 22

Los Angeles, CA, 2022-Apr-15 — /Travel PR News/ — On Earth Day, Friday, April 22, Metrolink will provide free rides all day on all Metrolink trains, with no ticket required. Riders can board a Metrolink train at any station throughout the six-county area for transportation wherever Metrolink trains travel. Riders are also invited to visit Metrolink’s Earth Day webpage where they can make a #takethetrain pledge to be entered to win a Monthly Pass and try Metrolink’s Personal Impact Calculator to see how leaving the car behind makes a great ecological impact.

“Taking the train for free this Earth Day is a win for both riders and the environment,” Metrolink CEO Darren Kettle said. “With free rides and a new expanded schedule to get everyone where they want to go, we hope people will make a little change in their travel routine to have a larger impact for air quality in southern California.”

On Earth Day, Metrolink riders can connect to Metro and also ride their buses, trains, and shared bikes for free to make an even greater impact on air quality and reduce congestion.

“When we work together, we can create a greater impact for the local environment and the planet,” said Metrolink Board Chairman Ara Najarian, who is also a member of the Metro Board of Directors. “Moving more people around the region in trains and buses reduces our carbon footprint and helps fight against climate change.”

For those looking for travel inspiration, Metrolink’s EXPLORE webpages now feature a curated list of eco-friendly locations (walkable or bikeable from a Metrolink station) for riders to explore. Leading up to Earth Day, riders will have the opportunity to enter a giveaway for tickets to two environmental-themed events, Cirque du Soliel’s OVO and the California Poppy Festival on Metrolink social media channels.

Metrolink is the backbone of regional public transit — the literal “Link” for work, play, culture, and adventure for millions across the region. Metrolink keeps SoCal moving, connecting riders to “metros” from the mountains to the sea and all points in between, while providing easy access to local transit authorities and services. With Metrolink, it’s all within reach.
