Leeds Bradford Airport celebrates the first anniversary of British Airways’ London Heathrow route

Leeds, United Kingdom, 2013-12-09 — /travelprnews.com/ — British Airways is celebrating its first birthday at Leeds Bradford Airport with a special gift for customers travelling on to long haul destinations.

To mark the first year of operation from Leeds Bradford everyone who books a flight from the Yorkshire airport connecting with one of 70 British Airways long haul destinations from London Heathrow will be offered 15 per cent off the fare.

The three-times-a-day service to London Heathrow was launched on December 9 last year and in 12 months there has been a steady growth in both leisure and business customers.

In March this year the Leeds Bradford flights transferred from Terminal 1 at Heathrow to British Airways’ flagship home in Terminal 5, reducing connection times and improving the travel experience for customers.

The top six most popular onward destinations for British Airways Executive Club frequent flyers from Leeds Bradford are New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Miami, San Francisco and Madrid.

All-inclusive one way Leeds Bradford to London Heathrow fares are available to book from £57. All British Airways flights include a generous free hold and cabin baggage allowance, free on-line check-in and seat selection 24 hours before departure and complimentary food and drink on board. Hand baggage only fares from Leeds Bradford are also available from £47.

Customers who want to take part in the birthday offer can book online at ba.com/leedsbradford from December 10. All they have to do is start their journey at Leeds Bradford and connect to a British Airways long haul flight at London Heathrow.

James Keegan, British Airways regional customer service manager UK regions and Ireland, said: “We have had some very promising support for our new route from the local community so we wanted to say thank you to them as we celebrate our first year of operation.

“The flights from Leeds Bradford have really opened up the world to Yorkshire, connecting with British Airways’ excellent short haul and long haul network from London Heathrow”.

Tony Hallwood, Leeds Bradford airport’s aviation development and marketing director, said: “I am delighted that British Airways has enjoyed a successful first year of operations here at Leeds Bradford Airport. We look forward to continue building on that initial success as we celebrate this important milestone.

“The British Airways service from Leeds Bradford, to Heathrow’s Terminal 5, opens up a worldwide market for businesses in the region and a world of destinations for leisure passengers. We hope Yorkshire travellers will take advantage of this birthday discount on their next long haul trip.”
