Leaders of ten governmental entities sign off on collaborative, regional approach to airport-area development

IND AeroVision Committee to emphasize project-focused work

INDIANAPOLIS, 2013-01-31 — /travelprnews.com/ — The municipal government leadership representing communities near the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) have signed the IND AeroVision Interlocal Cooperation Agreement designed to promote mutually beneficial project planning and development among participating entities.

The Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) joins the City of Indianapolis; the City-County Council of Indianapolis and Marion County; the towns of Plainfield, Avon, and Mooresville; the townships of Decatur and Wayne; and the counties of Hendricks and Morgan as a signatory to the agreement.

The agreement reflects a shared desire to identify projects that will collaboratively enhance the benefits created by the economic engine centered on IND. Such an approach could include cooperative efforts on various improvement activities in the region. However, it preserves the autonomy of each signatory member while aiming to build on the $4.5 billion annual economic impact the airport creates for the region.

“The IND AeroVision Committee is built on a forward-thinking, collaborative approach that can assist neighboring communities in realizing the full benefits IND can generate for the region,” said Michael Wells, president of the IAA board of directors. “The inclusion of our participating signatories represents a significant accomplishment that is vital to moving our efforts forward.”

The agreement will be commemorated in a signing ceremony in the IND board room this morning, marking the capstone of a process that began late last year. The ceremony will also initiate the next phase of the undertaking, which will focus on the development of subcommittees that will focus on project-based initiatives.
