Passenger boardings at KCI were down 11.6 percent, with a total of 377,375 during December. “We ended up in a down year because of significant decreases in airline departures and available seats in the market plus increased average fares,” said Tom McKenna, assistant director of aviation – marketing for the Aviation Department. “We have additional service coming online to Boston, Minneapolis, Orlando and Seattle, so we hope the trend will be upward in the next few months.”

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were down 8.9 percent in December. For the year to date, air cargo at KCI is up 2.0 percent from the same period last year.
