The lavish saloon coaches were inspired from the British era of early 1880s. After Independence, they were used by top railway officials in the ranks of divisional railway managers and above, zonal general managers and rail-road committee members for official purpose. But this premium service is now accessible even by the common man. You can get the facility as it can take travelers anywhere in India as long there is a railway track. IRCTC, Indian Railways Catering Travel Corporation offers the facility of chartering the luxury saloon for a fee of 2 Lacs.
The luxury saloon coaches are designed and decorated with a swanky look. Completed air-conditioned, the décor comprise of multi-colored curtains on the widows with a full panorama view. The two bedrooms, lounge space, pantry, bathroom, kitchenette have added amenities of water heater in modular toilet, dining table, fans, and chairs. Exclusive staff will also be available for services on board. Indian Railways will also provide one AC attendant and one saloon attendant for ensuring a hassle free travel.
