Historic Environment Scotland to give away free tickets to some of the most iconic sites to celebrate St Andrew’s Day

To help celebrate St Andrew’s Day, we are launching a free Ticket Giveaway to some of Scotland’s top heritage visitor attractions.

EDINBURGH, Scotland, 2018-Nov-06 — /Travel PR News/ — Historic Environment Scotland (HES) has thousands of free tickets to give away to some of the most iconic sites in the country on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 November, as part of the build-up to this year’s St Andrew’s Day celebrations.

The registration for free tickets will open on Monday 5 November at 10am and will close at 5pm on Friday 23 November. Visitors will get the chance to claim their free tickets by simply registering online at www.ticketgiveaway.co.uk and applying for tickets to the attraction of their choice.

Ticket Giveaway is part of the Scottish Government’s Winter Festivals which kicks off with St Andrew’s Day and carries through Christmas and Hogmanay and up until Burns Night.

Members of the public can apply for free tickets to any of their favourite 35 winter-opening ticketed Historic Scotland visitor attractions throughout the country that are participating, from the Border Abbeys to Skara Brae and Maeshowe in Orkney.

This year’s campaign was launched at Dunfermline Abbey, one of the sites participating in the giveaway as well as featuring in a new Robert the Bruce trail.

Commenting on this year’s Ticket Giveaway Stephen Duncan, Director of Commercial and Tourism at HES, said:

I’m delighted to announce details of this year’s Ticket Giveaway, which provides the public with free access to 35 of our winter ticketed attractions over the St Andrew’s Day weekend.

“Exploring our sites is a great way to learn more about Scotland’s fascinating past and we want to encourage communities to take a step back in time and learn more about the significant historic stories in their local area.

“By participating in the St Andrew’s Ticket Giveaway, visitors will have the opportunity to access our iconic castles, abbeys and palaces for free over the weekend, with something for everyone.

“If you’ve never visited your local historic site, then this is the perfect opportunity as it gives visitors the unique chance to get a taste of what’s available in their area for free.”
