Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts proudly continues its support for the annual Terry Fox Run

Vancouver, Canada, 2019-Sep-04 — /Travel PR News/ — For the 39th consecutive year, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts proudly continues its role as a founding sponsor of the annual Terry Fox Run, which supports the legacy of Terry Fox worldwide to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. The dedicated team from Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver is thrilled to stage the event in Vancouver again this year, which will see hundreds of like-minded runners take on the 10 km Stanley Park seawall to pay tribute to a beloved Canadian hero. Participants also have the choice of a shorter 3 km route geared toward bikes, wheelchairs, strollers, rollerblades and dogs on leash.

“Our team is incredibly proud to be hosting Vancouver’s annual Terry Fox Run once again, joining our colleagues worldwide in support of cancer research,” shares Martin Sinclair, General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver. The very first Terry Fox Run was hosted in Toronto in 1981 by Four Seasons Founder Isadore Sharp, who had contacted Terry in hospital and expressed his wishes to hold an annual run to raise funds for cancer research. Now, Four Seasons hotels around the world organise fundraising events encouraging locals and visitors alike to join in the race that has become an annual tradition for many.

Last year’s Stanley Park event successfully raised more than CAD 155,000 to support cancer research and this year, the goal is even higher. Over the last 38 years of hosting the event, Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver has been able to help raise over CAD 2,800,000 with the support of community and the many thousands of volunteers and participants.

KiSS Radio’s Tara Jean will host this year’s event and keep runners energised with upbeat tunes from the station. Sportsnet 650 will also be on site, and personal trainer and New Balance Vancouver Ambassador Gemma Slaughter will lead the crowd through a pre-run warm-up. Runners and their supporters, families and friends will be treated to a high-spirited morning full of family-friendly activities, along with a light breakfast from Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver.

The Marathon of Hope Continues

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is committed to advancing cancer research. Much of the Hotel’s devotion to this important cause stems from Terry Fox’s 1980 Marathon of Hope. Terry inspired Canadians to action before dying of lung cancer less than a year after striking out across Canada with the goal of raising one million dollars. To date, more than CAD 750 million has been raised worldwide for cancer research in Terry’s name through the annual runs held coast-to-coast, and around the world.
