Hotel staff volunteers serve up 500 meals to the city’s public servants on Thanksgiving Day

Washington, DC, U.S.A., 2018-Nov-19 — /Travel PR News/ — The team at Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC proudly announces its 19th annual “Thanksgiving on the Mayflower” feast for the city’s public servants who are working on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2018.

Washington, DC’s finest – the men and women who work daily to protect and serve our local community – are invited to board the 53-foot (16 metre) Mayflower truck parked out front of Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC – graciously donated by Hilldrup Mayflower, one of the nation’s leading moving and storage companies — on Thanksgiving Day between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm to enjoy a gourmet Thanksgiving feast. Prepared by talented Four Seasons chefs and served up by more than 30 passionate staff and community volunteers, including General Manager David Bernand and his Executive Team, it is a memorable day for all. Together, more than 150 seated meals and approximately 350 to-go meals will be provided; a small gesture of thanks to the heroes among us.

This year, Executive Chef Andrew Court and his talented culinary team have created a farm-fresh menu incorporating local and regional produce. Specialties will include maple-roasted butternut squash soup, cornbread sage stuffing, and green bean casserole. The meal will be accompanied by more than 100 assorted pies from the Hotel’s pastry team.

“Our team couldn’t be more excited to prepare this meal for DC’s finest. It’s a true privilege,” states Court.  Joining in on the fun, the Hotel staff will be dressed to reflect this year’s farm fresh theme.

Four Seasons Hotel General Manager David Bernand echoes Court’s sentiments: “Our Thanksgiving Feast is one of my favourite Hotel-hosted events. It is easy to overlook the fact that our public servants are always on call, sacrificing priceless time with loved ones to ensure that our local community is thriving and safe. Being able to personally thank you is why our Thanksgiving Feast is so special. This will be my ninth year participating in the event, and I am proud to have my children join me again as we continue this longstanding tradition.”

Hilldrup Mayflower Sterling (Va.) General Manager and Vice President Rob Williams voiced his excitement: “Hilldrup has a long history serving those men and women who keep our country safe and secure – from active military to local first responders. It is an honour to support our area’s public servants through this event.”

To date, Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC and its staff have served nearly 6,850 Thanksgiving meals to public servants of the Washington, DC area.
