(PRESS RELEASE) Dubai, UAE, 2024-Jan-20 — /Travel PR News/ — Emirates is expanding its services to Madagascar, increasing its weekly flights from four to six, effective 2 April 2025. This move follows the airline’s successful launch of operations to the island in September 2024 and is designed to meet the growing demand for travel between Dubai and Antananarivo. The expansion is part of Emirates’ ongoing commitment to supporting Madagascar’s tourism sector and promoting the island as a global destination.

At a press conference held in Antananarivo, attended by representatives from Emirates and the Ministries of Transport and Tourism in Madagascar, it was revealed that Emirates’ expanded schedule will include additional flights on the route, offering better connectivity and convenience for travelers. The airline’s Boeing 777 aircraft will provide more capacity for both passengers and cargo, further bolstering trade links between Madagascar and the UAE.

Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, Emirates’ Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for West Asia and the Indian Ocean, expressed enthusiasm for the expansion, stating, “The increase in flights allows us to offer more choice and flexibility for travelers, while also supporting Madagascar’s efforts to boost tourism and economic growth. We are proud to play a role in strengthening the ties between the UAE and Madagascar.”

In addition to its passenger services, Emirates has been actively supporting Madagascar’s tourism agenda by promoting the island to a global audience, including organizing familiarization trips for travel agents from key markets. Madagascar’s Minister of Tourism, Viviane Dewa, highlighted the importance of Emirates’ direct flights in opening new opportunities for the island’s tourism sector, especially with a goal to attract one million tourists by 2028.

The expanded flight schedule will operate daily except for Mondays, connecting Dubai with Antananarivo via Seychelles. Emirates has also been working closely with the Ministry of Transport to ensure that the increased services will further contribute to strengthening both the tourism and trade sectors of Madagascar.
