CHICAGO, 2012-11-15 — /travelprnews.com/ — Last week, the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) hosted officials from Melbourne Airport at O’Hare International Airport.
Melbourne Airport is preparing to begin a major expansion program. The purpose of their O’Hare visit was to learn best practices and lessons learned from the City of Chicago’s massive and historic ongoing O’Hare Modernization Program (OMP).
While at O’Hare, the group met with CDA Chief Operating Officer Khaled Naja and other airport representatives involved with O’Hare’s operations, design and construction, procurement, legal affairs and sustainability. The Melbourne Airport delegation also toured the CDA Operations Tower, OMP construction activities and Quality Assurance & Materials Testing (QAMT) lab.
The five-person delegation included: Simon Gandy, Executive General Manager; David Burns, Manager Airside Planning & Strategy; Simon Deeble, Airfield Precinct Team Lead, Capital Program; James Macneil, Beca Consultants and Joe Walsh, Beca Consultants.
Since CDA Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino was appointed in 2009, the CDA has hosted international delegations from Niedersachsen,Germany; Sweden; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Latin America; the Caribbean; Singapore; Belgrade, Serbia; Abu Dhabi, UAE; Beijing, China; Incheon, South Korea; Henan Province, China; Zhoushan, China; London, United Kingdom and countries of the former Soviet Union.
