Budapest Airport reminds passengers that sparklers and fireworks are strictly prohibited to carry

Budapest, Hungary, 2019-Nov-26 — /Travel PR News/ — As Christmas approaches, the well-known appliances of the festive season start to appear. However, in the case of aviation, safety is the number one priority. Budapest Airport reminds passengers that Christmas sparklers and fireworks are extremely flammable, and are thus classified as prohibited items, which means that it is strictly prohibited to carry them, both in hand and hold baggage.

A spectacular, bright Christmas favorite, which can burn at temperatures of up to 1600 °C, due to iron, magnesium, steel, aluminum or some other metallic powder – that is how Christmas sparklers can be summarized, from an aviation safety perspective. For the safety of aviation and passengers, security screeners remove all sparklers and other flammable items from baggage at the airport. However, manual search not only slows down the screening process, but could be unpleasant for passengers as well, as it causes a significant loss of time.

With Christmas approaching, flammable festive appliances create a problem every year. Last December, there were more than two hundred cases when security screeners found sparklers in passengers’ baggage. This could mean having to open 15-20 bags each day just before Christmas. Budapest Airport therefore asks passengers not to place sparklers or fireworks in their hand or hold baggage.

For the seamlessness of the mandatory screening processes, it is worth reading about prohibited items on Budapest Airport’s website at www.bud.hu.
