• Austrian Airlines acts as brand ambassador for Austria

VIENNA, Austria, 2014-12-1 — /Travel PR News/ — Austrian Airlines is the official airline of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. The Austrian carrier connects the event in Vienna with a global route network of around 130 destinations, including 39 in Central and Eastern Europe alone, making it the ideal partner for this international music competition.

“We are pleased to announce Austrian Airlines as a partner of the Eurovision Song Contest and are sure with their help the event will fly even higher in 2015”, says Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the Song Contest.

“As Austria’s domestic carrier, we are especially proud to have been given the opportunity to function as the official airline for the Eurovision Song Contest”, adds Andreas Otto, Chief Commercial Officer of Austrian Airlines. “As a brand ambassador for Austria, we will be carrying people from across Europe to Vienna for this unique music show.”

The Eurovision Song Contest is an international music competition between composers and songwriters that has been organised every year since 1956 by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) within the framework of Eurovision. Every year, broadcasting companies from every participating country send one song to the Eurovision Song Contest. The international competition is always held in the home country of the previous year’s winner. Because the singer Conchita Wurst won for Austria earlier this year, the next Song Contest will be held at the Stadthalle in Vienna from 17 to 23 May 2015.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2015 is being organised by ORF. As Host Broadcaster, ORF is responsible for putting on and organising the shows and all the accompanying side events, as well as for producing and distributing the international TV signal. The slogan selected by ORF is ‘Building Bridges’, which is precisely what the world’s biggest TV entertainment event aims to do.
